Crepe Delicious, Dalma Mall – Abu Dhabi

So yesterday turned out to be a great day for shopping and exercising – literally shopped till I dropped at the huge Dalma Mall in Abu Dhabi, and clocked more than 10K steps on my pedometer. And that left me hungry, hungry for sugar and caffeine – so I could forge along with more shopping, but not before we could leave the better half to babysit his nephew at the amusement centre on the 2nd floor.

Imagine our suprise, when adjacent to the amusement centre we laid our eyes on Crepe Delicious – Canada’s largest mall-based creperie – now in our very own Abu Dhabi. It’s great to know that so many global brands are converging right here at our door step. I was curious to know if the UAE outlet served crepes as good as their Canadian cousins.

The menu is quite expansive and consists of all types of crepes (breakfast, savoury and sweet), salads, panini sandwiches, gelato, smoothies, shakes and coffee. But the choices are mind boggling – there is something about Nutella that just screams “pick me, pick me”. In the end, we settled for 5 types of sweet crepes to share amongst us (the portions are quite big, and you need to have a major sweet tooth to finish all by yourself).

First up was the crowd favourite, Volcano Hazelnut (crepe rolled with bananas, topped with digestive biscuit, crumbs and dipped with Italian hazelnut sauce, and vanilla ice cream) – it did look like Mount Etna, but thankfully tasted amazing – it was quite the indulgence, with the rich hazelnut sauce providing a perfect pairing for the bananas.

Next up, we ordered the Tutti Fruit (nutella, strawberries and banana) and Mango crepes – and we weren’t disappointed. The amount of bananas and strawberries used for the filling was decent – these were fresh, light and hit the right spot.

All that walking around must have really made my friends hungry – being major chocolate lovers did help their cause. We proceeded to order an intriguingly named Lotus crepe – consisting of crushed lotus biscuits and topped with a rather generous offering of rich chocolate. One word, YUM!!

07

This was followed up by Brownie Bites – brownie pieces, topped with two types of Belgian chocolate. This is so rich in taste – a chocolate lovers dream come true!

08

We decided to end our chocolate madness episode with the aptly named Crazy Pancake (pancakes served with brownies, strawberries, bananas, with three types of chocolate).

Last but not the least, you need to try out their Lotus Shakes – simply unbelievable – and leaves you in a very good mood, and powered to forge ahead with another round of shopping.
